OBITUARY OF TAYDOWHA S. MUHAMMAD Today we announce the passing of Taydowha S. Muhammad, also known as Terry Charles Roberts at birth, with the nickname “Tay” bestowed upon him by close family and friends. Taydowha was the beloved son of Ms. Gemmalia Audrey Belton of Ruffin, S.C. and the late Mr. Handson Charles Roberts from Jacksonville, FL. Taydowha was born on July 2, 1955, also in the city of Jacksonville, FL, and transitioned on May 13, 2026. Taydowha was a very quiet and private individual that still touched the lives of many people around him. His residential journey through life took him from the state of Florida at birth, to South Carolina, then onto New York and California until life choices led him back to the home of his mother, Ms. Gemmalia Audrey Belton, who currently resides in Yonkers, NY. Taydowha completed Ruffin High School in South, S.C. and attended college in the state of California. Some of his family members profess that he dreamed of becoming a medical doctor. Prior to retiring in 2025, Taydowha was a skilled machinist, working with dedication and diligence at Zwilling J.A. Henckels, LLC in Pleasantville, NY, a well-known manufacturing company. His work ethic was unparalleled, his precision and attention to detail were admired by his colleagues. While growing up in Ruffin, S.C., Taydowha gained impressive farming and construction skills from his land-owning grandfather, Mr. Climpson Paul Belton along with great cooking, sewing and home keeping skills from his grandmother, Mrs. Retha Herlene Belton. Taydowha was born with an amazing falsetto singing voice. He sang wonderfully and had great pitch. He was capable of hitting the highest musical notes recorded by R&B bands like Earth Wind and Fire, Blue Magic and The Stylistics from the decade of the 1970’s. Overall, his hobbies included listening to music and watching his favorite television programs in his down time. Taydowha’s life, though not without its challenges, was a testament to his personal strength and resilience. His passing truly saddens his family members, but they find peace and comfort in knowing that he was a religious individual. He is also survived by countless uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews from all over the United States.
