White Plains, NY
Ronald Edward Brown Sr. was born on January 11, 1960, in Valhalla, New York to Leona Brown and Robert Cooley. He spent his early years in Greenburgh, NY and then moved to Ardsley, NY with his mother and siblings at age 12. In later years, he returned to Greenburgh where he resided until his death.
He attended Ardsley High School and graduated in 1978. Upon graduating, he enlisted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Fort Worth, Texas. He was an engineer and an atomic demolition specialist. During this time, he was fortunate to have familiar friends, "The Brew Crew" along with him for this journey. In his few years in the army, he traveled the world, and it was an experience he was forever grateful for.
In 1983, he met Deborah Toone of Yonkers New York and began a relationship that would result in the birth of his two children; Ronald Edward Brown Jr. "Pooky" in 1985 and in 1989, their second child, Destiny LaVaughn Brown-Mahboob (affectionately call by him and him alone "Stinky"). After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he worked at various locations until he landed a job at UPS where he worked in the shipping department for over 10 years until his heart told him he needed to rest. Starting in 2008, after the passing of his beloved mother, Leona (Lee), Ronald began an era of trips to doctors and hospitals for his illnesses and was well taken care of and watched over by his older sisters Geraldine, Delores, and Debra Brown Carter, as well as his beloved brother-in-law David Carter. Ronald, affectionately called "Mooney" by his friends, was a funny one-of-a-kind, straight-shooting, charismatic man who always welcomed the company of friends and family; they enjoyed being in his presence to watch games all while sharing life, moments, and memories of the good old days. His laugh could be felt and heard from a mile away and he was always smiling. Even on his bad days his "easy like Sunday morning" vibe would immediately infect all who chose to be aroundhim.Ronald was preceded in death by his grandparents Mark and Leela Brown, father Robert Cooley, and beloved mother Leona Brown, aunts Alice (Edward) Villines, Evelyn Brown, and uncles Mark "Geek" Brown Jr. (Elizabeth), William "Bill" Brown, George Brown, Robert "Bus" Brown, James Brown, as well as some of his beloved friends of The Brew Crew...Oohwayy.
He is survived by his children, Ronald Brown Jr. (Tiffanie), Destiny Brown-Mahboob (Tyreef), grandchildren Kaitlyn and Kori "KoKo" Brown, Mahiyah and Zaire Mahboob, siblings Geraldine Brown, Delores Brown, Debra Brown Carter (David), Kenneth "Googie" Brown (Cindy), and baby sister Victoria Brown, his aunts Willamae Plenty and Jessie Brown; his adored nephews Rodney Brown, Darren Harris, David Brown, and Justin Brown; nieces, great nieces and a great-great niece, a host of cousins and wonderful friends.
On behalf of the family, we thank anyone that ever spent time with, cared about, and cared for "Ronnie" in his lifetime. Ronald wasn't always the easiest person to deal with, but if you loved Ronnie, you had to love him for who he was and not who you wanted him to be.
