Mae Robinson Obituary (1932 - 2021)

Mae Otis (Lewis) Robinson was born on February 6, 1932 in McKamie, Arkansas to the latePles and Era (Edwards) Lewis. Mae was the first child of five siblings born from her parent'sunion. Mae received her high school diploma from the Lafayette County Training School inStamps Arkansas and went on to attend college at the Tuskegee Institute (now TuskegeeUniversity), located in Tuskegee, Alabama. She majored in tailoring and was the only female inher class. After college Mae moved to White Plains, NY, in Westchester County, where shepursued a career in the dressmaking industry and married her late husband Douglas MiltonRobinson. From her marriage she was blessed with two children, Linda Robinson and the lateMichael Robinson. Mae went on to pursue a career as a corrections officer with the BedfordHills Department of Corrections. She was the first female officer to work in an all-male detentionfacility in the state of NY. Mae retired from the Department of Corrections after 29 years ofdedicated service. Along with the raising of her own two children Mae also assumed a primaryrole in the rearing of her daughter's son. She was a dedicated Christ follower and departed to be with the Lord on December 1, 2021. She is survived by herbeloved daughter Linda Robinson of Spring Valley NY; her grandson Keith Robinson of WhitePlains NY; and her two great-grandchildren Shevane Eggerton and Brian Eggerton.Mae also leaves behind her brother; Cecil Lewis of Denver CO; her sister Jeanette (Lewis)Boccia of Las Vegas NV; several nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews and a host ofother precious relatives and caring friends.While our dear Mae will be greatly missed by family and friends alike, we are honored tocelebrate the legacy of a life well lived and find comfort in the knowledge that she awaits us inthe presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.
