Hilda Walters

–

Ossining, New York

Hilda A. Walters had reached the centennial year of 100 when she passed away on April 11, 2025, in Ossining, New York. Hilda Walters was born on June 19, 1924, in Guaro Oriente, Cuba to Joseph and Margaret Robinson, one of six children born during their marriage. Hilda and her siblings Eric, Ralph, Leonard, Daphne, and Veta, all grew up in a loving and nurturing home environment. Due to the generosity of her parents, there were unofficial adopted siblings, who were just as loved and cared for within the family.
The Robinson family traveled from Cuba to Smithville, Jamaica when Hilda was twelve years old. Her father worked on farms, her mother took care of the home, while Hilda and her siblings attended school. Hilda completed her Secondary education and continued her education obtaining her Teaching Credentials. She was a teacher for several years before immigrating to the United States. Hilda subsequently obtained employment as an IBM Clerk in the Banking Division at JP Morgan Chase (previously known as Manufacturers Hanover Bank). She retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service. While working at Manufacturers Hanover Bank, Hilda’s kindness and giving nature was demonstrated to her co-workers, solidifying lifelong friendships.

Hilda married Randolph Walters in Jamaica, West Indies and they were happily married until his sudden death in the United States. Sadly, to say Hilda never had any children of her own, but she surely cared for, guided, nurtured, and provided financial and/or emotional support to anyone who came to her or whom she saw needed help.
Hilda was a devoted church member since she entered the United States, her most recent membership since 2002 at Grace Reformed Church in Brooklyn, New York. Hilda enjoyed singing and lending her voice to choirs over the years; and she volunteered whenever needed at church functions. She enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends; you always knew you were going to leave her home with something good to eat. Due to her declining health, her church attendance may have waned; however, her love for God and her church always remained steadfast.

Hilda is survived by her Nieces - Chyril (Anguella), Maxine, Sherr, Jackie R. (Florida), Jackie and Julie (Jamaica, W.I.), Joy Bell Cherry (Maryland), Great-Niece Brianna; Nephews - Barrington (Bobby), Roosevelt (Wayne); God-Daughters – Ashley Orenshteyn and Paula Pothemont; Close family friends Benny (Leol Haynes), Ms. Jean Thomas, Ms. Linda, Ms. Rose; and a host of church and other friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Joseph Robinson, her siblings Ralph, Eric, Leonard, Daphne, Veta; and her husband Randolph Walters.

May the soul of Hilda Walters Rest in Peace and her memories continue to shine on…..
