George Randolph, Jr. Obituary (1929 - 2019)

George Randolph, Jr., son of the late George Randolph, Sr. and Flora Ann Lawrence, was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina on August 11, 1929. He passed away on May 14, 2019 at the age of 89. He was preceded in death by his sister, Frizell Howell; son, George (Mooney) Randolph III; and step-brother, Irving Randolph. George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jacqueline Randolph; his brother, Wilbur Randolph (Doris); his children, Johnny Randolph (Ray), Dannetta Whaley (Paul), Lisa Randolph, and Michael Randolph (Yoland); his grandchildren, Markell Randolph (Joquetta), Michael D. Randolph, Alasha Whaley, Amber Whaley, Crystal Randolph, Johnny Randolph, Jr., George (Boo) Randolph IV, Jayna Randolph, Alina Randolph; and a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, great grandchildren and friends. George was educated in the public schools of St. Matthews, South Carolina. He moved to White Plains, New York with his parents to pursue their dreams of a better life for their children. After working a short period for the railroad, George discovered his passion for carpentry and home improvement. With this new found passion he worked to make his dream, to work for himself, a reality and created "George Randolph Home Improvement." As a business owner with a big heart, George was able to mentor and teach other young men a trade that helped them support their families. In his earlier years, George was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Within the church, members could find him repairing, painting, and doing many other hands-on jobs to sustain the appearance of the building. George loved sailing and fishing the Long Island Shore in his Cobia 26-Footer. His main catch was a bounty and he would always give away a package of fresh fish, that was caught and cleaned with love, to family and friends. Later in life, George could be spotted walking with a kangol hat on his head, a cane in his hand, and a pep in his step all over the city of White Plains. If he encountered a stranger or familiar face during those walks, he would proudly say "I've worked all over the world and...," oh, the stories he'd tell! Romans 14:8 "For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord's."
