Ernestine Rhodes Oakes, a remarkable woman who emanated warmth, strength, and resilience in all she did, passed away on July 28, 2025. She was a beacon of light in the lives of all who knew her. Born on August 1, 1946, in Newberry, SC, Ernestine's life was a brilliant testament to the truth of Maya Angelou's words, "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated."

Ernestine's life, filled with love, laughter, and an indomitable spirit, will be celebrated on Friday, August 8, 2025, at the House of Refuge Apostolic Church (HORAC Ministries) located at 81 Croton Avenue, Ossining, New York, 10562. The viewing will commence at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am.
