Earther Mae Smith Obituary (1926 - 2016)

To God be the Glory! On Saturday, October 8, 2016, God called Earther Mae Smith home. 89 years ago, the late John Wilson and Nealie Rose Wilson created an angel to life, Earther Mae. Earther Mae was born November 1, 1926 in St. Augustine, Florida. She was the 4th oldest child. Her siblings preceded her, John Henry Wilson, LawrenceWilson, Earnest Wilson and Mildred Criss. She moved to New York in her early childhood and attended the White Plains/Greenburgh School system. Earther Mae was united in holy matrimony to the late Eunice Smith on February 14, 1948. Known to many a Mae, she was a joy to be around. When she walked into a room, you knew she was there, laughter, all day, and night. She had a heart of gold! When God made Earther Mae, she brought joy to everyone she knew and came in contact with. Mae worked at General Motors from 1973 until her retirement, she also worked as a matron at the Water Club in Manhattan, New York until her illness. Respected by everyone Mae was a tremendous source of kindness, strength, and of course laughter. She always welcomed everyone into her home and never wanted you to leave! Earther Mae leaves to cherish her memories, two goddaughters, Sharon Wilson-Hines and Karen Wilson-Hope, White Plains, NY; her adopted daughter, Winnie Brown, Bronx, NY; her first nephew and nieces, Charlie Criss (Mary), Larry Criss (June) and Charlotte Mayes, Georgia, Patricia Powell, Ohio, Billy Criss, Pamela Criss, Yonkers, NY, Rodney Criss, Mt. Vernon, NY, Timothy Criss (Anne Marie), Poughkeepsie, NY, and James Criss (Dina), Ossining, NY; and a very close friend, Albert Thompson, Harlem, NY; and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
