Cleveland A. White Obituary (1936 - 2017)

Cleveland Alexander White, age 80, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 25, 2017. Cleveland or "White" as he was popularly known, was born on April 2, 1936 to Arthur and Emily Moses White in Lititz, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies. He migrated to the United States in 1971 and was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York. Cleveland worked for St. Vincent Hospital in New York City in the housekeeping department. He retired from the hospital in 1999 after working for over 27 years. Cleveland was a member of Flatbush Tompkins Congregational Church. He joined the church in 1999 and served faithfully as a Deacon, Men's Christian Fellowship and Security until he was unable serve. Cleveland was an avid lover of music - Reggae and Gospel music. His favorite song was "I'm Missing You" by Ambelique. He was a great cook and he loved soup. If you went to see Cleveland on a Saturday, you were guaranteed to get a bowl of Chicken soup. He was a huge fan of wrestling. One of his favorites things to do was watch WWE with his grandsons. Cleveland leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Patricia White; brother, Ernest White, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, WI; sister, Hermin White Campbell; St. Catherine, Jamaica, WI; four sons, Paul (Simone) White, Belcamp, MD, Dennis (Lisa) White, Parlin, NJ, Wayne (Carla) White, Brooklyn, NY and Steve (Suzanne) White, St. Petersburg, FL; three daughters, Rosemarie (Robert) Burton, Danbury, CT, Marcia (Melton) James, Snellville, GA and Elizabeth White, Norwalk, CT; sixteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Cleveland was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Emily White; his brothers, Calvin White, Kenneth White and Ronald White; and his sisters, Icilyn White, Maudlyn White Royal and Violet White Holness.
