White Plains, NY

Barbara Louise Reasor Hollinger was born April 22, 1940 in Appalachia, Virginia to her beloved parents, Emanuel and Clara Jean Reasor (Hudson). She was the eldest of five children born to this union. Barbara was fondly known as "Curly" by family and childhood friends. She graduated from James A. Bland High School in 1958 and attended the University of Tennessee. Barbara knew her future husband, Ernest Hollinger since childhood. She and Ernest were married June 12, 1959 and have enjoyed a 57 year marriage. Ernest and Barbara moved to Port Chester New York in 1959 and were part of the great migration from the south to the Northeast. Their union produced three beautiful children, Reginald Keith, Anthony Juan, and Karen Yvonne.
During their lives in Port Chester, Barbara and Ernest hosted many family members moving from the south to establish new lives in New York. They also hosted many family dinners and functions. Barbara will always be remembered for her Lemon Cake and Sweet Potato Pie.
Barbara was employed by IBM for 25 years. While working, she provided great structure for her children and husband as a loving, caring, and concerned mother and wife. She and the family loved to travel. The family participated in many Hollinger Family Reunions. Barbara loved to travel, shop, and read. She also loved keeping up with family and friends to find out what was happening in their lives. Barbara had a great sense of humor and would issue a quip you were not expecting.
Barbara accepted the Lord at an early age at Macedonia Baptist Church in Appalachia Virginia and attended Mt Zion Baptist Church with her husband Ernest. Barbara passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday October 25, 2016 after a lengthy illness.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter Karen.
