White Plains, New York
Antoine D. Lewis, Jr. was born on May 20, 1997 in New Rochelle, New York to Kim and Antoine
Lewis, Sr. He attended elementary school at Daniel Webster Magnet School where he found
his love for basketball. When he was in 3 rd grade he wanted to try out for the basketball team,
where we were told, he can try out, but only 4 th and 5 th graders make the team. Antoine tried out
anyway, showed up, showed out and showed off and was the only 3 rd grader on the team. That
was where his basketball career took off. Antoine excelled in all sports. He played for the New
Rochelle Youth Tackle League Football where he was a star quarterback, and he played for the
New Rochelle Youth Baseball League. Every time Antoine got up to bat, the opposing coach
would yell to the players on the field, "MOVE BACK", because he knew Antoine would almost hit
that ball out of the park. His first love was basketball and he went on to play through Albert
Leonard Middle School and New Rochelle High School, where he graduated in 2015. Antoine
received numerous awards throughout his years: He was not only an athlete, he was very
smart. He received Academic & Honor Roll Awards, etc. along with sports: MVP's All
Tournament, All County, Sportsmanship, etc. Antoine attended Monroe College in New
Rochelle, where he majored in Business Communications. He wasn't on the basketball team,
but he couldn't stay out of the gym. He asked if he could workout with the team and immediately
caught the eye of the coach. He soon became a star player of the Monroe Mustangs. After
completing a year at Monroe College, Antoine transferred to Allegany College of Maryland,
where he majored in Computer Science. The head basketball coach had already heard of him.
He was a star player and helped lead the team to win the NJCAA Region XX Division I Men's
Basketball Championship. Antoine graduated from Allegany College with an Associate's
Degree in Computer Science. He then transferred to West Chester University in Pennsylvania
on a full basketball scholarship, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science.
Antoine always dreamed of playing professional basketball. Upon his untimely death, he
received an offer to play overseas in Rome. So close to what he worked so hard for all his life.
Antoine found God in 2012 after the passing of his late grandmother, Valerie Murray and was
soon baptized at Shiloh Baptist Church, in Tuckahoe, NY. Antoine and his brothers immediately
joined the SBC Children's Choir, where he shared his beautiful voice.
Antoine was funny and a joy to be around. You would usually see him with a basketball in his
hand and a huge smile. Nothing was that serious to him and he would always find the humor or
bright side to situations. Everyone loved being around him. He was always doing something
funny to make you laugh. He had so many friends and of course his brothers and cousins who
looked up to him. Antoine was a role model.
Antoine was a health nut. He read everything he consumed. He stopped eating meat in 2016
and became a vegan. That lasted for a couple of years until he realized he was missing the
taste of "real pizza". He then became a vegetarian.
Antoine leaves to mourn; his loving parents, Kim and Antoine Lewis, Sr., his two brothers,
Jordan and Isaiah, grandfather Deacon James Murray, Uncles James Murray Jr. (Renette),
Bryan Murray (Lynise), Ryan Murray (Aunt Denise), Brandon Murray (Aunt Samara), Dion Lewis
(Deldreana), William Lewis (Aunt Lavonia), girlfriend Kaliyah Lynady, Godmother and God
sister, Stephanie and Samantha Barnes, Godmothers Sherrill Williams & Ada Carden, his great
Aunt Barbara Cartwright and great cousin Sharon Lyons, his loving dog Princess, a host of
cousins, relatives and friends who will cherish him forever. Antoine instantly became a little or
big brother to people of all walks of life, but there are two brothers that were a daily constant in
his life, Timik Harper and Antoine Mason.
Antoine is predeceased by his grandmothers, Josephine Lewis and Valerie Murray, Uncle,
Robert Lewis, Godfathers, Talmadge Harris Barnes and Daniel White.
